I recently purchased the Ancient Sunrise chai kit for blonde hair. I am considering adding amla to the mix to prevent loss of wave in my hair. I have ash blonde hair with natural golden highlights from the sun and just a little wave to it. I do not want to loose any of the wave and became concerned when I read that henna relaxes curl. My hair is very fine and I don't want to lose any body by applying henna. Should I add amla to the mix to keep or enhance wave? What will this do to the color if I add it? Should I mix the kit contents for dye release and then add the amla before applying? Should I still add lemon juice to the mix if I add amla? I have never hennaed my hair before and am a little nervous. I am not sure I want to loose the golden highlights or the little body my hair has. I wanted to add some red highlights and body. Any advice?
I just want to add a note about loss of curl and body. Blondes tend to have finer hair then the other natural colours, but more hairs on our heads. Henna did indeed relax the curl in my hair, but didn't completely straighten it. I still have loose curls and waves and, as henna thickens hair there's been no loss of body. If anything my hair is easier to control, but still bouncy & full of volume. I have three words to say in favour of henna on curly hair: NO MORE FRIZZ!
