Want to lighten roots
My (longish) roots and the undercoat of my hair are quite a bit darker than the the rest of the length of the mantle. So they do not show the henna color as well. I understand that continuing to henna the length will make it darker red, but my roots are still going to be brown with red shine. I am considering doing some lightening of the natural brown of my roots with honey, so that the red of the henna will show better on the next application, and hair damage will be avoided. My hair will also show natural red highlights when lightened a bit, so this seems like a logical step to take. Has anyone tried this?  Thanks!

Honey and water can be a slow process, but it is the least damaging =]

Re: Want to lighten roots
I have the same dilemma. Last time I hennaed my roots I did a mix of honey, lemon and coconut water and sat out in the sunshine the day before. When I hennaed with Monsoon for 4 hours it did seem the red showed more this time even though I didn't notice any real lightening of my color. Not sure if it was because of the honey, but worth a try!
