I used henna a few times a while back. Well, turns out that time flies and it has actually been 5 years! I don't see any expiration dates on the box. I have 3 unopened packages of Ancient Sunrise Celebration Jamila Henna 2009. Is it ok to use or would I be better off buying new?

Re: Expiration?
Henna can keep for a long time if stored properly, but you might not get the same shade you used to. Check if there is still dye release by mixing a tablespoon with the acid that you normally use and letting sit for the normal 8-12 hours. After that, take some of the paste and put it in the palm of your hand. Wipe it off after 10 minutes, if there is an orange stain you can still use it to color your hair. If you want to check the shade, do a test strand on your hair :)

Celebation may have risen in value

The street value of your Celebration may be worth way more than buying new henna. Sell it and buy whatever's on the market today. I'm only half kidding. See what happens if you make a post letting people know you still have Celebration lol
