Hendigo+ amla gloss recap, a question and a plan B(uxus)

Hello everyone!

Yesterday I used a hendigo/amla gloss on my ash brown virgin hair for the very first time.

I used two cups of conditioner, 2 tablespoons of henna paste (apple cider vinegar as my acidic agent) and two tablespoons of indigo with 2/3 tablespoon of dry amla powder and a cup's worth of corn starch to make the mix less runny. I left the gloss on for 1 hour and 10 minutes, then I couldn't bear dealing with all the tiny droplets that kept running out from underneath the plastic wrap and rinced it easily.

My first question is: does cornstarch dry out your hair? My hair certainly isn't glossier or softer than it was before applying the gloss, could this be due to the cup of cornstarch I had to put in?

I'm happy with the colour, its a warm brown, just like I expected. It's a tad bit too red for me, but since I am writing this 24 hours after doing the gloss, I know I still have to wait for the colour to deepen and the ginger to fade a little.  However, I have started panicking a teeny tiny bit regarding the build-up future applications may give and what will happen if I ever decide to stop hennaing and grow out my natural very ashy brown roots again.

So, my second question is: have I got it right that doing monthly (or 3-weekly) buxus-glosses will bring down both the ginger tint and the shine for about 3 weeks? If so, will my hair get darker or drier using buxus?

I would love to calm my nerves a little by knowing that should I ever want to stop henna, I have a solid plan B to go back to my old ashy mid-brown color without ruining my fine and slightly dry hair. Thanks for being patient to read throug all of this :).

Re: Cornstarch - My hunch is that it it would dry out my hair - Arrowroot is a good alternative for me as it forms a more jelly smooth mixture.
