Zarqa Henna

Has anyone ever heard of this?  I bought a box from a store in Kuwait a few months ago, and it just arrived today.  It was in their bargain section for 1$, so I thought "why not!".

Here's a link to a picture of the box :

On the side it says

USAGE: Use tap water and mix with Henna to form a thick paste.  To get dark and lasting colour use after 8 hours.

Processed & Packed by M. Manzoor & Co. Pak. (Pvt.) Ltd.

And some other stuff :D

So yeah, just wondering if any one has tried this or knows anything about it.

Thanks!

About 7 years ago I had a box of zarqa that turned out to be black. Not that that necessarily makes yours black, but it does make that a brand name I can't trust.

Black as in PPD?

That sucks.  Is there any way to test it (without labs or expensive equipment) to see if it's safe or if there are additives?

Yep, what I had was black as in PPD. That's not to say everything they sell is poison. What I had happened to be.

Mix a tiny bit with water and see what it looks like. If it gets a deep blue sheen on the surface it probably has some indigo. If it looks way darker than henna should, I'd pitch it.
