Thinning out my paste

I usually add more lemon juice to thin out my paste, however, since I do this after dye release, does it really benefit the staining properties?  Couldn't I just add water?  I've also heard of people diluting the juice 50/50 to begin with.  I would think this would be a bit nicer  on dry skin.

Thanks!

You can thin your paste with plain water with no adverse effects to the henna.  I have done this on a few occasions when I only had enough lemon juice for the initial mixing and didn't want to run out to the store just to add another couple tablespoons of lemon juice to the paste.

Other lovely things to thin your paste with

1. tea made from water, cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom

2. rose water

Oh nice!  Though could people be sensitive to the cloves the way they are to clove oil?

It is a possibility, however, if you eat anything with cloves or drink chai, it's really no different.  The clove in the infusion is not strong.  If you're worried about it, leave it out.
