More henna plant pictures

It's now a week since the first henna photos I posted. I did another round of shots this morning. It's a perfect setup. I love early mornings and our patio garden is just outside my office door on the east side of the house so I get to shoot as the sun is breaking through the trees. My favorite kind of light.

You can see all the stills at:

It's amazing how you can see the red in the veins and edges of the leaves.  It would be interesting to find out the lawsone content of domestically-grown henna.  ;)

Re: More henna plant pictures

The color variations show up so well because the young leaves are translucent and I was shooting in an easterly direction, catching the low-angle sunlight coming though the leaves. This view last only a short time each norning. I shot the latest group around 7:00 a.m. EDT. At that time the sun is still low and the light is filtered and softened by the trees. By 7:45 the sun was too high and the light was too "hard."

This is one of those times when being an habitual early-riser pays off.

So nice!  Do you use your plants for dye?
