Glimpses from the past

Estonian museums have put up a virtual-museum-exhibitions of different photos:
http://www.virtuaalmuuseum.ee/?lang=eng

The catalogues' have more detailed descriptions however only in Estonian. As the info is rather minimal I hope Googel translate (Estonian->English) will help you.

Salt-paper photos' collection contains pictures from mid-19th century. If you like Victorian era you may like this, too: http://soolapaberfotod.virtuaalmuuseum.ee/Kataloog/

This exhibition 'Momentary uptake' is a real exhibition now in real museum, too. Pictures are from the period 1850-1912 and do contain beautiful shots from 19th cen Estonian folk-costumes, town-sights, anatomical pictures etc. Hope you'll enjoy: http://silmapilkline.virtuaalmuuseum.ee/

If you can't figure out what the text says about photo with Google-translate you're most welcome to ask me. I will help. :)

How many times a year does the exhibition 'Momentary uptake'  take place? Is the location always at the same place or not? Is there any special registartion for participating there?

Re: Glimpses from the past

It was a temporary set-up exhibition and it was up until the beginning of March.
It is down now and as they made it virtual I do not believe it will be put up near future again. But it will be available online.
It was up in Estonian Museum of History in Tallinn which has now a whole new permanent exhibition - Spirit of Survival (Visa hing can also translated as 'die hard' ;) ) which I would strongly recommend if you happen to come to Tallinn. :)
